Each year, hundreds of organizations in the computer science (CS) education community convene at the CSforAll Commitments Showcase to pledge their commitments to improving and expanding CS education across the United States.

For the third consecutive year, the Constellations Center for Equity in Computing at Georgia Tech will join the showcase to discuss their commitment for 2020-22. In its new pledge, Constellations has committed to conducting two virtual workshops during the academic year in addition to hosting a summit in June 2021 and 2022.

All of these opportunities will be open to educators across the United States and give K through 12 teachers access to enhance their classroom instruction. They will also facilitate conversations on equity, diversity, inclusion, and culturally responsive pedagogy to dismantle bias and racism in CS education.

The center held the first Constellations Virtual Computer Science Professional Development Summit in June 2020, bringing together more than 700 educators from around the world for three days of interactive sessions. The center recently hosted its first virtual workshop under this commitment on Nov. 11. The workshop helped teachers prepare to celebrate Computer Science Education Week, which is scheduled for next month.

“We were blown away by the attendance and feedback of our first summit and have big plans to continue expanding the content of and access to the summit in 2021 and 2022. We’re excited to continue increasing access to professional development to teachers and to help make classrooms more inclusive and welcoming to all students,” said Lien Diaz, Constellations director for educational innovation and leadership.

The showcase will be held online on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
